Infinite possibilities of sealed past
The rooms Icreate seems, on the first glance, to display everyday objects, cutting
out from memories of everyday life or reality of the world. However,
in fact, it is
a world that does not exist anywhere on the earth.
As long as one lives, “permanence” or “instance” does not exist.
Every minute
flies into past. What we think “now” is a moment that already has changed.
Our
memories fade as a hundred of years go by, and what remains become faded
records in manydifferent shapes and colours. At that instant, the reality
of these
records depend on the imagination and conclusion drawn by the future
minds.
One of the major tools for recording is photography. It is very interesting
that as
I recreate an old picture into a new work, I feel that I am taking a
new picture as
I am shooting the reconstructed world, and it leads me to the possibility
of infinite
for the objects of sealed past. Specially, for the pictures from the
past before my
birth, to allow my inspiration to go free as a completely new fiction
material.
That is when all the weight of history falls off the old pictures to
reveal only the
essencial quality of the image without the argument wether or not if
it is a
document or a fiction.
